Gwinnett Comprehensive Counseling began in 2006 as Kim Brooks began
evaluating juveniles for Gwinnett County Juvenile Court.
She
expanded her business in 2007 to include other courts.
She currently does evaluations for Gwinnett County Recorder’s
Court, State and Superior Courts.
She also does evaluations for surrounding counties.
Kim
began her schooling and then graduated from Georgia State University in
1998 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
She
continued her
education at the Georgia School of Professional Psychology where she
obtained her Master’s Degree in Psychology in 2001.
She began working in the field at an area hospital where she evaluated persons in crisis that came into the Emergency Room. After a thorough evaluation, she determined, along with the hospital Psychiatrist, the level of treatment appropriate for her patients. In doing so, Kim worked very closely with other community services and area hospitals to help patients in crisis become stabilized.
After
four years in practice, Kim obtained her State of Georgia License as a
Licensed Professional Counselor.
She
worked her way from an entry level position and became the
Lead Clinical
evaluator, and eventually became manager of that unit, supervising
approximately 15 evaluators for the hospital.
Kim
had a desire to help the community more and that’s when she decided to
open Gwinnett Comprehensive Counseling.
She
works closely with Gwinnett Probation Offices to ensure that defendants
are getting their court mandated evaluations and necessary treatment to
satisfy their court obligations.
